From the link:
"Imprisoned for life without parole, Hindley's life at large was at an end but behind bars a new life was just beginning. She lived an extraordinary existence characterised by passionate lesbian love affairs (one with a prison guard), an escape plot, a physical assault that was so severe she required plastic surgery, a dramatic confession to her crimes, and emotionally traumatic meetings with her victim's relatives.
Over time she relished her notoriety and became a Queen Bee amongst other prisoners, at one point editing an agony column as Betty Busybody. She was released from prison on several occasions, in order to take walks on Hampstead Heath with the prison governor, an occurrence that would have outraged the nation had they known. On another occasion Hindley was let out of prison to assist in the search for the missing bodies of her victims on the Yorkshire Moors. There was also her much publicised rediscovery of her Catholic faith, and her long battle for parole, supported by Lord Longford."

In 1987 Brady "claimed there was another victim buried on the moor, a man murdered in Manchester, a woman dumped in a canal, and two victims gunned down in Scotland, at Glasgow and Loch Long. None of the victims were identified, but police announced that they were reopening the files on two ancient murders, including the 1963 beating death of 55-year-old Veronica Bondi in Manchester , and the 1965 strangulation of Edith Gleave, a 38-year-old prostitute, in Stockport."
