Akshaya Nandam (26), Eric Jarmin (24) and Professor Joseph Bittingle's (50)
(Professor at UAMS) deaths came about by thugs who were targeting Hispanics,
and those they mistook for Hispanics, in the mistaken belief that "Hispanics distrust
banks and carry a lot of cash." This is according to Little Rock, Arkansas police.

Akshaya Vishal Nandam, a Mechanical Design Engineer, worked for Satyam
Computer Services Ltd. in Little Rock, Arkansas. After being shot to death,
his body was returned to his family and friends in the Gagan Vihar colony in
Begumpet. Akshaya was due to be married soon. Instead, he was cremated
and his death mourned.

Brandon Johnson has been labeled a "danger to society"

by the prosecutors in the case, is charged with three counts of capital murder
and several counts of aggravated robbery. Victoria McCoy, his girlfriend was
also arrested and charged with using one of the victim's credit cards.

Shamar Womack (29) is charged with

 aggravated robbery and battery.

Police believe there was one more accomplice.

Police recovered two of the victim's wallets and the .38 caliber handgun used
in the robberies and murders.

N Lakshmana Murthy, Akshaya's father in an interview:

Lakshmana Murthy still feels that parents should not stop their children from pursuing studies or getting into jobs abroad. “In my son’s case, they killed him for a few dollars, despite the fact that he gave them whatever he had. After Akshaya’s death, some of our relatives discouraged their children from going abroad. This is wrong and nobody should come in the way of the youngsters who want to achieve their goals,’’ says Murthy as his wife N Shanta Devi nods in agreement. “Akshaya’s case was an isolated incident. But our Government should be more pro-active in dealing with the issue,’’

"At the stroke of midnight, the telephone rang and the caller informed them about Akshaya being shot on his thigh and his subsequent death.

“Akshaya called us that afternoon and asked us how we celebrated Bhogi. I had a long conversation with him. His last words still echo in my ears,’’ Shantha Devi recalls holding back tears.

“A friend of his who called from the US to offer his condolences told me that Akshaya was an amazing singer, who even learnt western music. It was a revelation to us,’’ says Murthy, who works as the Deputy General Manager in Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, "

2010 - March - 11 - A mental competency hearing will be held for Brandon Johnson.
Defense attorney's claim that their client is mentally retarded and not
responsible for the murders. Dr. Simon, who attempted to conduct
a mental evaluation refutes that claim.

NO TRIAL DATE SET (AS YET) FOR THE MURDER OF AKSHAYA NANDAM

TRIAL DATES:   August 2010 for slaying of Eric Jarmin
November 2010 for slaying of Joseph Bittengle

No trial dates set yet for the other robberies & shootings.

Chief Deputy Prosecutor John Johnson "Prosecutors plan to use evidence from
all three of the killings at Brandon Johnson's August trial."

CHARGES: 3 counts of capital murder, 14 counts of aggravated robbery, 2 counts of
aggravated residential burglary, 9counts of first degree battery and 10
                  counts of theft.

2010 - March 12 - Prosecutors drop Death Penalty against Brandon Dewayne
                           Johnson, instead seek Life sentence.

Brandon Dewayne Johnson's IQ tests out at 55 - Arkansas law and
U.S. Supreme Court precedent bar the execution of defendants with
an IQ of 65 or below. Doctors deem Johnson "mentally retarded."

Dr. Brian Rush Simpson (Forensic Psychiatrist, State Hospital) "I found Brandon
Johnson to have mild mental retardation." "The defendant has no history of mental
illness."

"Johnson's claim of hearing voices in his head is more likely an indication of his low
IQ, than an indicator that he is schizophrenic. People with mental retardation regularly
report hearing voices, which are actually the internal monologue that most people have
while thinking."

Dr. Buhushan "Shawn" Agharkar (Defense Psychiatrist, Georgia) "The defendant

puts up a good front, but careful questioning shows Johnson is unfit to stand trial."

Johnson "parrots" what others tell him in an effort to please them, but doesn't have

sufficient understanding of the accusations against him or how the legal system

works to stand trial.

"It really tells you this is a guy you have to be careful with ... because he'll look at

you like he understands. He tries to please you. He tries to play down his cognitive

difficulties." As an example, Johnson initially was enamored with John Johnson,

the prosecutor, thinking that Johnson wanted to set him free. He thought the

prosecuting attorney was cool. He should know the prosecuting attorney is against

him, not on his side."

                                       COMPETENT TO STAND TRIAL

As soon as it medical evidence established Johnson's IQ, his
defense moved to have him deemed incompetent to stand trial.

Prosecutors presented letters from Johnson that he wrote:
                           1) Johnson tried to persuade a friend to claim ownership of a
                               pair of bloodied jeans.

                           2) Johnson demonstrated that he knows the murder weapon,
which was found under his girlfriend's couch, near the
                               bloodied jeans, had been stolen.

The defense disputed the authenticity of the letters.

Circuit Judge Marion Humphrey "Johnson is competent to stand trial."

There is one thing for certain. My dear brother Akshaya got down on his knees and begged Brandon not to kill him, and Brandon killed him anyway, without mercy. I'm glad he was stupid enough to plea his way into the general prison population, because he'll have MS13 tattooed across his reamed-out ### for hunting mexicans down like dogs and killing them without mercy. Akshaya's American Brother

Akshaya and the others didn't deserve to die at the hands of this thug. Shortsighted of him wasn't it?  I'm betting you are absolutely spot on with what will happen to him in general population.
